Mission Statement The mission of Camp AmeriKids is to enhance the lives of youth in the Tri-State Area who are infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS and Sickle Cell Disease by providing a traditional summer camp experience, year-round skill building and a supported transition into adulthood.
Volunteer Duties

Camp AmeriKids, a summer camp for children living with HIV/AIDS and Sickle Cell Disease, is looking for caring, responsible, energetic and fun camp counselors for our 2012 season. A volunteer counselor team is responsible for the 24-hour supervision of a cabin and maintains a camper to counselor ratio of about 2 to1. Counselors spend each day of the one week camp session with their cabin group as they rotate through a schedule of activities and participate in new and exciting workshops provided by the program staff. The cabin counselor's enthusiastic participation in all aspects of camp, from meals and activities to nightly special events and cabin chats, is crucial in creating a memorable camp experience for our campers. Counselors are expected to be role models, sources of energy and ideas, and are a key part of the Camp AmeriKids community. Room & board at our site in Warwick, NY provided. Volunteers can apply for one or both of the following sessions:
Session One: July 28th – August 4th
Session Two: August 9th – August 16th
Applications are available on our website www.campamerikids.org. Application deadline is April 15th, and phone interviews will be conducted in late April or early May. Successfull applicants will be notified by mid-May. Please contact us if you are interested in more information.
This is a summer camp in New York serving children living with HIV/AIDS, and other serious illnesses. We are currently recruiting volunteers to staff our residential summer camp. It truly is a remarkable place and an incredible opportunity – for the children who attend and the adults who volunteer. So many of our volunteers remain in touch with us and it’s inspiring how many have chosen professions in public service (whether medicine, social work, teaching, non-profit or child advocacy law) as a direct effect of their time at camp. Each fall we receive countless emails from people saying that Camp AmeriKids changed their life. Background check will be conducted and applicants need to have had their latest physical examination done within the past two years.
